FIRST CUCKOO CLOCKS

People of the Black Forest started making clocks around 1650.

 




They were prized for keeping perfect time and for their carved wood faces hand crafted of local wood.

Today, each clock follows the tradition using local woods and hand crafting.

The idea of placing the cuckoo bird on the clock originated in the Black forest by Master Craftsmen

Those Black Forest craftsmen still come up with new designs and technical improvements which have made the cuckoo clock a valued work of art all over the world. The cuckoo clock industry is traditionally linked to the Black Forest.
